Testimonials

  • LA was one of the greatest things in my development as a leader and a new person in the Community. It challenged me about what I had assumed about myself and why I needed the others that were in this class with me! The number of times I have called on my classmates since my May graduation is too many to recall. EVERY one in that room I now consider leaders that will attack the issues that must be addressed!

MEET THE BOARD - IZZIE SADLER, LA16

Published on 9/7/2016

Having grown up on U.S. Army and Air Force bases, Izzie Sadler knows plenty about the military.

But she wasn’t familiar with the Marine Corps until participating in Leadership Albany as a Class of 2016 member.

“I really enjoyed all of the program days, but the day we spent at (Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany) stood out the most for me …” she says. “I was impressed with their operations and the impact that this base has on our community.”

Sadler, a new LA board member, is the SOWEGA Council on Aging’s development director.

She says that through LA, she has new friendships – and a new outlook.

“Leadership Albany gave me a better understanding of our community and a fresh perspective,” she says. “It showed me that there are a lot of people working hard to make Albany a better place.

Sadler says she is serving on the board because she has “a passion for wanting it to touch others the way it has touched me.”

“I have been inspired to reconnect with our community and to join the effort in making Albany the best it can be,” she says.

Sadler and her husband, Wes, have three children. Her interests include tennis, yoga and family time.
