James Morgan has a long job title. He is the Public Service Associate Agriculture and Natural Resources County Extension Agent and Coordinator for the University of Georgia. He loves working with urban horticulture, and says it’s exciting to “extend lifelong learning to Georgia citizens through unbiased, research-based education in agriculture, the environment, communities, youth, and families.”

Starting out with South Carolina State University for two years, he’s been with the University of Georgia 16 years.

And though his title may be long, his passions outside the job are short and to the point – he loves free food and can’t stop talking about his happy socks.

“I like to go hiking at state parks of Georgia and watching cooking shows on the Food Network and Cooking Channel,” he says. Growing up in Orangeburg, SC, he’s a big fan of The Edisto Memorial Garden and the Edisto River that runs through it.

If this Clemson Tigers fan could be remembered for only one thing, what would James want it to be?

“As the guy who discovered the Tawny Crazy Ants in Albany,” he says. His discovery about two years ago saw him quoted in the Atlanta Journal Constitution and Atlanta Magazine, among others. As part of their craziness, the infamous insects enjoy feasting on electronics.
