Testimonials

  • LA was one of the greatest things in my development as a leader and a new person in the Community. It challenged me about what I had assumed about myself and why I needed the others that were in this class with me! The number of times I have called on my classmates since my May graduation is too many to recall. EVERY one in that room I now consider leaders that will attack the issues that must be addressed!

LA 2016 - MEET THE CLASS: REEDI HAWKINS

Published on 7/20/2015
Reedi Hawkins
Occupation:  Director of Marketing and Research, Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission

An Albany native, Reedi Hawkins now finds herself in a period and place in her life where she says that it’s time to give back to the city and community that has given her so much. In her role with the EDC, she says she gets to do that by sharing the message that there really is “Only One Albany.”

She’s most passionate about being a “servant leader,” saying that her “highest state of joy is achieved when I have helped another realize what makes them unique and wonderful.”

When she isn’t at the office, Hawkins is busy with a unique second job – serving as the 2015 Miss Albany.  In this role, she spends time mentoring young women, volunteering with Children’s Miracle Network and advocating for social media safety.

Hawkins says she’s “pretty obsessed” with Pandora radio, Ray-Ban sunglasses and milk; all things she says would be nearly impossible for her to give up.
