Ed Freeman Leadership Award


 Ed Freeman was the founding board chairman of Leadership Albany and served in that capacity until his death in August 1986. His unswerving commitment to community betterment remains a standard for past, present and future classes.

The Board of Directors established the Edward A. Freeman Leadership Award to recognize the civic contributions of program participants who have come to embody the best of Mr. Freeman's ideals.

Alumni make nominations for this award by sending an email to stating the name of your nominee and describing why you feel the nominee should be honored with the award.  Specify items that meet the criteria listed below.


The ideal recipient of this award can be described as:

  • Willing to take risks to achieve the goal

  • Stepped up to the task, took responsibility for important initiative benefiting the community

  • Provided encouragement and recognition to those who worked together to accomplish the goal
